John Mastin of Marchamley and Sheffield

John was born in 1831 in Marchamley, Shropshire (Market Drayton), the eldest son of John Mastin of Hodnet and Anne Brayne. At some point he moved to Sheffield (as did his younger brother Joseph) where he worked as a joiner. He married a dressmaker called Ann Bailey (1831 - 1902) of Sheffield in 1854.
John and Ann had 6 children: Alfred Bailey Mastin (born 1857 at Sheffield; died 1916 at Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield; occupation: commercial clerk), Martha Ann Mastin (born 19 May 1859 at Sheffield; occupation: dressmaker), Eliza Mastin (born 1862 at Sheffield; occupation: teacher), John William Mastin (born December 1862; died 6 Apr 1863 at Marchamley Wood, Hodnet, Shropshire), Louisa Mastin (born 1865 at Wollerton, Shropshire; occupation: bookseller's assistant; Louisa married Ernest Fred Horner in 1884, and their grandson, Philip Norman Horner, 1919 - 1941, is the subject of the painting "The Sower" by Jagger in Dore Church), and John Mastin (born 1866 at Marchamley, Shropshire; occupation: artist, scientist, author).
Ann died in 1902 in Sheffield, and John died in 1918 in Ecclesall, Sheffield.
